This cool card trick is a little more difficult to learn but is well worth the effort. You will probably find that it is easier to do if you use an old set of cards. New cards are much stiffer and slippery as they are glossy. Old cards, however, have more ‘give’ to them.

Before beginning this card trick, remove the four Jacks and place them face up on the table. You can tell your audience that these Jacks are going to be your helper cards. Make sure you memorize the card on the bottom of the pack before going any further.

Have someone from your audience choose a card from the pack. Tell them to show the audience what the card is without letting you see it. Have them place the card face down on top of the deck. You pick the deck up and cut it, which places your memorized bottom card on top of that card that they have chosen.

Pick the deck up and than it out slightly with the cards facing you. You know that their card is going to be the one after memorized card that was on the bottom of the pack.

While talking to your audience about what is going to happen or anything else you can think of to distract them, place one of the Jacks before your memorize card. Place the next Jack after their card, and the next two Jacks after the next two cards. Their card is sandwiched between the second and third Jack.

Straighten the pack of cards up leaving the Jack’s sticking out at right angles to the rest of the deck. Then turn the Jacks so they are facing the same way as the rest of the cards. Hold the deck firmly and push the Jacks and other cards into the pack. The trick here is to not push the Jacks all the way in. You want the Jacks and the cards between them a little out from the edge so you can push them through.

As you push these cards in, you will push out the card behind the Jack after their card. Make some comment asking if this is the right card. When told no, tell them you need to try again (or whatever you decide to say). Pushing that card back in will push out the Jack behind it. When you push that Jack back in, it will push out their card. This is when you can act surprised or tell them that this must be the right card. Again, it is up to you to work out what you want to say.

This card trick will take practice to get it right. You will also need to work out your banter or what you are going to use to distract your audience. Remember to practice it in front of the mirror. When you are satisfied that you can do it properly, you are ready to amaze your friends with your latest cool card trick.

Spelling Out That Card

You can shuffle cards like this when you learn how to do card tricks.

Learning how to do card tricks can be easy and fun. This one is an easy card trick you can use to amaze your friends. Take a deck of cards, making sure you know which card is on the bottom of the deck. Have someone choose a card and lay it face down on the table. Make various sized piles of cards from what’s left in your deck and ask your friend to place his card on top of one of the piles. Make sure the pile with the bottom card is in the row closer to your body.

Randomly start putting the piles together, making sure the pile with the bottom card that you have memorized is put on top of the pile with the card from your friend. We have picked up all the cards, start turning them over one at a time. When you reach your bottom card that you have memorized, start a new pile. This pile will have your friends card at the bottom (or at the top with the pack is turned over). Continue adding cards to this pile, remembering just what the chosen card is. Start the next pile and silently spell out the words of that card, making each card one letter of the word. Once you have the correct number of cards for the words, start a new pile and continue doing this until all cards are back on the table face up.

When picking up your piles, make sure the pile that spells the words of the card is placed on top of the pile that contains the card. All the other piles are underneath. Show your audience one card and said was your card? When they say no, ask them what their card was. Then you can spell the words of their card, turning each card over as you do so, ending with well here is your card.

Practice doing this a few times, and try it in front of a mirror. When learning how to do card tricks effectively, you will need to work on your dialogue or banter as the more you can weave a story into your magic tricks, the easier it is to distract your audience.

I have included a video of how to do this easy card trick to help you master it. If you want to learn even more easy card tricks, I strongly suggest buying Master Mentalist. You will really be able to amaze your friends and family with fantastic magic tricks or perhaps become a master magician yourself!
